Within Renaissance Next for Leaders, there are many ways to filter data so that you can focus on specific demographics, grades, or schools.
District and School Profiles and the Our Schools Dashboard
Using the drop-down list in the top-right corner of the page, you can filter the data shown by demographic information, by school level, or by school region using the Filter By drop-down list at the top of the page. In the example below, the data would be filtered to students in grade 3.
If you want to go back to the data for all students, select the x next to the selected filter.
Students' demographic information must be set in your Renaissance software to be available in Renaissance Next for Leaders. If your school uses CDI, set grade, gender, ethnicity, and characteristics in the source database. If your school does not use CDI, grade, gender, and ethnicity are set when you add or edit students or import student data in Renaissance; characteristics may be set separately in Renaissance software.
If you want to filter by school level or region, see the settings to configure your schools to assign levels and regions.
Our Students Dashboard
Use the drop-down lists at the top of the page to filter the list of students by school and demographics or to use views that have been shared with you or views that you have created. (For more on adding and selecting views, see Our Students Dashboard.) If you select a school, you will also see a drop-down list for teachers and sections.
In the Demographics drop-down list, you can choose more than one demographic by checking boxes in the drop-down list. Each item you select will be added above. (Note: You cannot filter by Free or Reduced Lunch status.)
To clear your selections, select the x to the right on each drop-down list, click the x for individual selected demographics, or select Clear All to the right of the drop-down lists.
You can also filter by score or metric category. For each metric, you'll see a bar chart with different color segments. Select a segment to see only students in that category.
Filtering in Explore
On the District and School Profiles, when you select Explore on a metric tile as shown below, you have more filtering options.
As on the dashboard, you can filter by demographics, grade, school level, and school region if student information is defined in your student data and school information is set in your Renaissance Next for Leaders settings. You can filter my more than one student characteristic at the same time, such as students who are in 3rd grade and male as shown below. If both 3rd and 4th grade and male were selected, the data in the graph would include students who are in 3rd or 4th grade who are male.
You can also choose to compare demographic, grade, or school factors using the last drop-down list, and you can do so while filters are applied. In the example below, results are filtered to grades 3 and 4 and male students, and the comparison by grade level shows lines for 3rd and 4th grade for those students.
